Nortel expands relationship with ANDA Networks
Nov 20, 2008 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) --
Nortel (NYSE:NT) (TSX:NT), a communications technology company, is
extending its Ethernet VPN (E-VPN) offering with customer premises
equipment from ANDA Networks Inc, a provider of carrier-class Ethernet
solutions for fibre, copper and wireless access networks.
According to the company, Nortel has expanded its relationship with
ANDA Networks to integrate intelligent network termination equipment
into its Metro Ethernet Networks portfolio. This is expected to enable
the company to provide an end-to-end solution that assists service
providers in offering efficient and cost-effective hosted E-VPN
services to businesses. An easy to operate Carrier Ethernet service
offering from Nortel allows operators to simplify operations and
increase revenues by delivering a wide array of Ethernet services more
cost-effectively.
Nortel's Metro Ethernet solutions now include ANDA's EtherReach
portfolio, which provides an extension of E-VPN services over fibre and
copper-based networks to help service providers ensure maximum reach to
all customer locations over any type of network infrastructure. The
ANDA products can be bundled with Nortel's Carrier Ethernet portfolio
or with the company's Optical Ethernet portfolio, which features the
Optical Multiservice Edge (OME). The combination of the companies'
products is expected to provide carriers with a complete solution that
can be managed remotely and controlled via an integrated Nortel network
and service management system on an end-to-end basis.
