Dream rolls out DM8000

(DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Dream Multimedia, supplier of Linux-based set-top boxes, has announced
that deliveries of the DM8000 HD PVR DVD have begun.

The new Dreambox, which provides HDTV reception, will initially be
available in limited numbers from all leading distributors of digital
TV equipment by the middle of November.

The new Dreambox is a set-top box that is said to provide more
performance, features and functionality than any other HDTV boxes.
Features such as Ethernet and WLAN support ensure the DM8000 as a fully
specified media server for any home network.

In addition, a DVD player or recorder or a hard drive can also be
installed.

A new security hologram on the packaging of all Dreamboxes now provides
security for consumers from the danger of illegal copies of set-top
boxes.
