MRV Partners with Storage Network Industry Association as Official Infrastructure Sponsor at Storage Developer Conference
CHATSWORTH, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- MRV COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (Nasdaq: MRVC), a leading provider of products and services for test lab automation, out-of-band networking, WDM and optical transport, metro Ethernet, and fiber optic components, today announced it will be the official PlugFest infrastructure sponsor at the Storage Networking Industry Association's (SNIA) Storage Developer Conference starting today and running through Sept. 25.
The sponsorship gives MRV the ability to showcase its gigabit Ethernet switching solutions while allowing SNIA to upgrade the infrastructure of the CIFS/SMB/SMB2 PlugFest from 10/100 base Ethernet to a Gigabit Ethernet. MRV will contribute products from its innovative OptiSwitch and MR lines of Gigabit Ethernet and 10-Gigabit Ethernet switches to serve as the intelligent switching for the show's network operations interconnecting the equipment of all of the industry leaders who are participating in the PlugFest. The show will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Santa Clara, Calif. In addition, MRV will host hands-on lab demonstrations for show attendees on its Media Cross Connect layer one switches, MAX-KVM IP KVM switches and its LX Series family of intelligent, energy efficient power management solutions.
"Storage Developer's Conference has become the leading venue for developers in the storage industry to gather for advanced technical sessions and test the interoperability of their newest equipment and we're looking forward to working with them to facilitate the operation of the forum," said Noam Lotan, president and CEO of MRV Communications. "We also get an opportunity to show off the versatile architecture of MRV's switches, power management system and our new SAS/SATA interface for the Media Cross Connect in our hands on lab sessions."
"Our partnership with MRV began with the use of their lab automation products in our Hands-On-Lab for Developers (HOLD), but they stepped up and provided their innovative switching products to serve as the infrastructure for this PlugFest," said Rick Bauer, director of technology and education for the Storage Networking Industry Association. "This year's CIFS/SMB/SMB2 PlugFest features a number of top storage network vendors featuring exciting new solutions, and to be able to interconnect them with the reliable products of a reputable vendor like MRV will really enable us to pull this off."
About the MCC
The Media Cross Connect (MCC) product line from MRV is a physical layer switch that replaces the manual patch panel providing the missing link to true test automation. Using the MCC users can program connections from any port to any other port within the system. Modularly designed, the MCC is available in 72, 144 and 288 port versions. The MCC allows engineers to change test configurations with a single software command eliminating the laborious process of patching and re-patching cables dramatically simplifying the test set up and reconfiguration process. The MCC allows test equipment to be shared among test beds reducing capital expenses in the lab. Test lab automation reduces the time it takes to complete each test, allows 24/7 testing, saves engineering hours and costs and shortens the time-to-market of new products.
