(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MIDDLETON, WI, September 3 / MARKET WIRE/ --

Extreme Engineering Solutions has released
the XPedite7170, a product which sets a new standard for high-performance
computing by leveraging the latest in low-power Intel CPU technology.
Utilizing the SU9300 (1.2 GHz) and SL9400 (1.86 GHz) Intel? Core(TM)2 Duo
processors, the XPedite7170 provides military-system designers with the
optimum high-performance, low-power solution.

The XPedite7170 is a well-balanced product that excels in all aspects of
embedded design. Superior computational ability is achieved with the use of
Intel's next-generation 45-nm low-power Intel? Core(TM)2 Duo processor
operating at up to 1.86 GHz. A rich set of communication interfaces
includes multiple USB, Gigabit Ethernet and Serial (RS-232/RS-422) ports.
With support for up to 4 GB of DDR2 SDRAM and two external SATA interfaces,
the XPedite7170 satisfies memory- and storage-intensive applications.
Extensive operating system support for Linux, Microsoft Windows, Wind River
VxWorks, QNX Neutrino, and Green Hills INTEGRITY provides an easy migration
path from existing hardware and software platforms.

Configurable as either air-cooled or conduction-cooled, the XPedite7170 is
designed to be a robust SBC solution for any environment. With the use of
Extreme Engineering's proprietary Xficient(TM) technology, the XPedite7170
outperforms competitors by achieving improved thermal conductivity,
allowing systems to run at higher performance levels.

A PMC/XMC expansion slot provides easy product customization and an
optional I/O module allows convenient front-panel access to serial,
Ethernet, and USB ports during lab development.

"The XPedite7170 represents a significant technological advancement for 3U
VPX processing," states Ben Klam, Vice President of Engineering for X-ES.
"By offering the XPedite7170 in five unique ruggedization levels from
commercial to rugged-military, the XPedite7170 can be configured to operate
cost-effectively in any environment," Klam adds.
