Intridea to Deliver Renegade's Guide to Hacking Rails at RailsConf Europe 2008
WASHINGTON --(Business Wire)-- Intridea, Inc., the agile enterprise Web 2.0 company, will lead two sessions at RailsConf Europe 2008: a Rails development tutorial, "The Renegade's Guide to Hacking Rails Internals," and a general session, "Hacking the Mid-End: Unobtrusive Scripting and Advanced UI Techniques in Rails." RailsConf Europe 2008 is being held September 2-4, 2008 at the Maritim proArte Hotel in Berlin, Germany.
The Renegade's Guide to Hacking Rails Internals
The far-reaching half-day tutorial will give intermediate and advanced Rails developers a crash course in hacking and extending Rails internals. Topics covered will include Ruby meta-programming techniques; Rails abstractions, idioms and mixins; Rails structure and initialization; a tour of the Rails Class Loader; Plug-in locators and loaders; code base modularization using Rails plug-ins; extending ActionView form builders; site-wide settings and much more.

Hacking the Mid-End: Unobtrusive Scripting and Advanced UI Techniques in Rails
As Web application development advances beyond the static page, a whole new field of development is emerging. In the Javascript behavior layer and markup abstracting helpers lie the "Mid-End" advanced user interface problems that don't fit traditional back-end and front-end models. The session explores this new field with case studies and real code, including usage of Lowpro Javascript behaviors to separate the behavior from the markup. Attendees will learn how to give back-end developers the tools to create simple, repeatable, quality markup through block-accepting helpers, as well as discuss the methods for allowing rapid development of complex interactions in new and exciting ways. They also will look into the future of the Mid-End and what lies ahead for user interface development.
