DATEV uses BMC software to automate datacentre operations

(DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
BMC Software has announced that DATEV, Germany's software and IT
service provider for tax consultants, auditors and lawyers, has chosen
BMC's BladeLogic Service Automation solution to automate and optimise
its datacentre operations.

Acquired by BMC earlier this year, BladeLogic's datacentre automation
solution is a key component of Business Service Management (BSM).

The acknowledged BSM player, BMC has aggressively developed this
game-changing IT management approach since announcing it in 2002.

In selecting BMC Software's offering, DATEV now has one cross-platform
solution to optimise, automate and manage all stages of the server
lifecycle including inventory management, provisioning, patch
management, configuration management, access control and compliance.

BMC's extensive functionality is expected to allow DATEV to meet the IT

requirements of its internal divisions and its clients by enabling its
administrator teams to systematically manage server configurations,
consistently enforce compliance policies and roll out applications
while minimising the risk and downtime associated with configuration
changes.

BMC will also play a key role in DATEV's future datacentre expansion
exercises, which involves provisioning, certifying and managing a large
number of servers to support its growing IT infrastructure.
