"Mude's sales force and experience makes them a value-added distributor, which we believe will allow us to better offer the latest-generation solutions and services available to the local market," said Hitoshi Nagano, area vice president for Brazil at UTStarcom. "We've already shipped more than 75,000 ports of IP-DSLAM, more than half of which has already been deployed, and we expect to continue to gain traction in the Brazilian market though our relationship with Mude."
UTStarcom's broadband solutions are designed to enable carriers to deploy IP-based, high-speed Internet, voice, data and multimedia services over wireline networks. Designed for highly efficient, converged service delivery across an evolving networking landscape, these solutions continue to expand the capacity and performance of narrowband, broadband and transport solutions. UTStarcom's wireline broadband product offering includes a suite of optical transport platforms, extensive edge network access solutions, and a distributed IPTV and multimedia delivery system.
"The partnership with UTStarcom marks our entry into the latest trend in telecom technology, the triple play market. UTStarcom's products are totally adherent to our portfolio of high-speed data transmission network infrastructure and IP convergence solutions. This means that resellers get new business opportunities in their installed base, as well as glimpsing new markets," said Fernando Grecco, marketing director at Mude.
Mude estimates a 10 percent increase in total sales in 2005 with the introduction of the new line of UTStarcom products. The offer will have an impact mainly on resellers focused on xDSL solutions, impacting not only the carrier market, but also the end users in the enterprise market. With the channels, Mude's strategy will be strong investment in training and services for pre- and post-sales support.
