Password Manager Pro from ManageEngine Ensures Holistic Enterprise Password Management

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

ManageEngine (News - Alert), a provider of enterprise password management solutions, recently released the latest version of their Privileged Password Management solution called Password Manager Pro.

Password Manager Pro features real-time alerting on audit events and seamlessly integrates with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions for a more comprehensive information security and IT compliance infrastructure.

The latest release of this enterprise password management solution from ManageEngine generates SNMP traps and Syslog messages whenever an event or activity like password access, modification or any other occurrence takes places within the ManageEngine application.

These traps/syslog messages can be sent to a third-party SIEM tool and can then be used to thoroughly analyze and correlate the data from Password Manager Pro with other network events. This results in a more secure infrastructure with an in-depth and holistic view of overall network activity.

Detective provisions in enterprise password management are necessary to prevent or identify insider threats and ensure compliance to numerous industry and government IT regulations. On the other hand, Privileged Password Management focuses on thee 'protective' aspect of securing administrative passwords and restricting access to passwords.

“The new integration with SIEM allows security administrators and auditors to monitor privileged account access and activities from a single console and reconcile security incidents to possible privileged access abuse,” said Rajesh Ganesan, director of product management at ManageEngine, in a statement.

“With insider threats looming large, specifically due to privileged account access, this ability to quickly understand the root of a security event makes it possible to rapidly respond to attacks and always be in complete control of the computing environment,” Ganesan added.

Password Manager Pro is available in two Editions--Standard and Premium --with a 30-day evaluation license of the Premium Edition available. A permanent Free Edition is also available for small businesses.
