Atlantic-ACM Whitepaper Reveals 'Evolving Opportunity' of Wire Speed

By Tammy Wolf, TMCnet Copy Editor

Atlantic-ACM, a firm specializing in telecommunications, industry research, consulting and benchmarking, focuses on Ethernet backhaul opportunities for wholesale telecommunications carriers, in a white paper entitled “Ethernet Wireless Backhaul: The Evolving Opportunity,” which also gives a closer look into the company’s 2010 Metro Wholesale Carrier Report Card.

The report was developed in an effort to gain customers’ perspective on how to “improve operations, customer touch points, product quality and pricing.” The survey, which was conducted June through August 2010, was distributed to 6,000 contacts to rate their wholesalers based on that criteria. Out of those contacted, Atlantic-ACM received 1,639 individual carrier ratings from 382 individual respondents.

The whitepaper reveals in-depth statistics and data that show a private line with high wire speed is strong in the wireless segment. The following points are addressed:

n Consumption of wireless data continues to increase at an astounding rate, and carriers are rushing to shore up their networks;

n Wireless buyers are forecasting higher growth for Ethernet spending, and are going to outpace the market in relation to spending growth of high-bandwidth services;

n In contrast to two years ago, wireless carriers are currently spending more on high bandwidth local transport;

n High bandwidth is showcasing year-over-year growth, which can be attributed to the transition away from slower technologies.

"Respondent data in this year's Metro Wholesale Carrier Report Card supports Atlantic-ACM market projections that call for wireless backhaul to remain the fastest growing wholesale product over the next several years," said Dr. Judy Reed Smith (News - Alert), CEO of Atlantic-ACM. "The data snapshots we are providing in this white paper provide actionable data to wholesalers pursuing Ethernet wireless backhaul services."

A Boston-based company, Atlantic-ACM serves the telecommunications and information sectors by providing strategic research and consulting services, as well as generating the industry’s main benchmarking, sizing and opportunity studies. This helps clients in determining telecommunications outlets for successful investment, market entry and long-term outlook.
