AVTECH Set to Release Updated Environmental Monitoring Product

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

AVTECH will be releasing the new version of its popular Device ManageR software soon. Device ManageR - no, it's not a typo - is AVTECH's newest software package free with the purchase of any AVTECH IT and facilities environment monitoring product.

Device ManageR is described by company officials as an all-in-one product for "the discovery, management, logging, graphing and more of AVTECH's IT and facilities environment monitoring hardware." It runs as a Windows Service and will continuously and automatically discover Room Alert and TemPageR devices network-wide using an optional UDP broadcast scan and displaying multiple units through a single web interface, accessible from anywhere.

TMC's (News - Alert) Rajani Baburajan recently reported that AVTECH officials announced that the company has "pioneered some of the most popular environment monitoring products available, which have been used to monitor the Big 7 environmental threat factors."

The Big 7 are identified as temperature, power, humidity, flood, smoke, air flow, and room entry: "These problems can easily bring any IT facility to a complete stop in minutes if they go unaddressed, according to AVTECH's Michael Sigourney (News - Alert)," Baburajan wrote.

Company officials say it's built for managing multiple deployments or single units, letting users automatically log sensor data in an embedded SQL database for one click export, view graphed data over a user-specified amount of time with the ability to toggle between graph and sensor displays, monitor alert status for multiple units, set monitoring thresholds, set multiple IP addresses, update firmware and more.

"This greatly enhances the value of AVTECH's product line, making it easier for users with multiple units to manage and document their data, improving reliability and decreasing unplanned downtime and costly hardware replacement," company officials said, adding that Device ManageR also provides unlimited discovery of AXIS Network Cameras and acts as a single interface for viewing real-time images for all cameras found on the network.
