By Andrew Litz, TMCnet Web Editor

Distributor Computerlinks (News - Alert) has entered into an agreement with Gigamon, a provider of intelligent data access networking, enhancing its network, security, and virtualization portfolio. The company intends to collaborate with the vendor to create a broader partner and customer base for its network monitoring tools.

Sold in more than 40 countries, Gigamon's products enable IT departments to track user activity, application performance, and security threats across the entire network.

"This is a very fast-growing sector driven by customers' need to understand what's happening on their networks and reduce security risks whilst maximizing ROI from their current infrastructure," said David Ellis, Computerlinks’ director of new technologies and services. “We’re looking to develop relationships with our specialist partners, who we will work closely with to satisfy the strong market demand.”

Derek Jackman, vice president for EMEA at Gigamon, added: "We’ve enjoyed tremendous growth due to the way our technology revolutionizes network traffic monitoring in today’s high-speed, distributed data centers. With the addition of Computerlinks' global infrastructure, we will be able to increase incremental business to the European channel."

Computerlinks UK has remodeled its business to increase margins by delivering services to its channel partners centering on pioneering technologies such as virtualization, cloud computing, and IP-based physical security. In other recent news, Computerlinks joined the OpSource (News - Alert) Partner Ecosystem to use OpSource's cloud hosting capabilities to power its ALVEA Infrastructure for the Computerlinks UK channel.
