Ceragon to Acquire Advanced Ethernet Network Management Technology

July 27, 2010

Ceragon (News - Alert) Networks, a provider of long term evolution-ready wireless backhaul solutions, announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire the right to use and develop advanced Ethernet network management software technology, which will accelerate enhancements to its network management system.

According to company officials, the software module, which features a variety of networking functionalities, will be further developed and tailored to Ceragon's advanced FibeAir platforms to enhance the performance of its PolyView management solution.

The solution will bring additional benefits to Ceragon customers. They will be able to manage Ethernet services across multiple technologies and vendor domains; manage differentiated service level agreements; ensure high quality of service; employ advanced planning tools; and exploit optimization tools capabilities.

“We are constantly evaluating opportunities to accelerate the introduction of new capabilities by acquiring technology,” Ira Palti, president and CEO of Ceragon, said. “In this case, we will be adding attractive new end-to-end network management features to help our customers plan their networks faster while bringing operational errors to a minimum.”

Earlier in June, Ceragon Networks (News - Alert) announced Digitel Mobile Philippines, which operates under the brand name of Sun Cellular and one of the fastest growing mobile telecommunications providers in Philippines, has selected Ceragon Networks for 2G/3G backhaul expansion.

Additionally the company announced that Sun Cellular will also invest an additional $9 million in Ceragon's mobile backhaul network equipment in an ongoing expansion of its 2G/3G cellular services, a TMCnet report said.

Ceragon Networks recently reported that its revenues for the second quarter of 2010 reached an all-time high of $60.9 million, up 44 percent from $42.2 million for the second quarter of 2009 and up 2 percent from $59.7 million in the first quarter of 2010.
