Elections Could Affect Internet Regulation and Issues

November 03, 2010

Managed, hosted VoIP provider, M5 Networks has announced the acquisition of Geckotech, a Chicago-based provider of Cisco (News - Alert)-powered Hosted VoIP. The two companies are joining forces to better respond to the exploding opportunities for business-grade hosted communications.

Under the acquisition agreement, M5 Networks (News - Alert) will take over all Geckotech staff, customers and data centers.

Both M5 Networks and Geckotech have been recognized as innovators in the VoIP industry and have maintained competitive positioning with other telecom alternatives through exceptional management of complex technology.

The 2009 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States featured both M5 Networks and Geckotech.

"M5 has been the leader in this industry since they pioneered it ten years ago," said Josh Robbins (News - Alert), CEO of Geckotech, in a statement. "They've built great technology, which we can't wait to utilize for our shared customer base.  Together we can enable our customers to use advanced phone system technology to become more efficient and informed organizations."

As part of the agreement, Robbins will become M5 Networks’ Vice President of Business Development. M5 Networks’ current Vice President, Kerrin Parker is expected to relocate to Geckotech to manage integration efforts.

Before M5 Networks emerged as a viable buyer, Geckotech management was seeking to overhaul its technology without the use of licensing arrangements. A priority in the search was an enhanced phone experience and more robust applications for customers and the Call Conductor platform from M5 Networks was selected to fulfill those needs.

As part of the acquisition process, Geckotech clients will be seamlessly integrated into the M5 Networks system throughout the next year. As a result, they will gain immediate access to the Call Conductor platform using existing phones. Randa Bradley, Geckotech's Director of Operations believes customers will love the change.

"We have built the best delivery system and backoffice in the business and are excited to offer it to another customer base," said Dan Hoffman (News - Alert), President and CEO of M5 Networks. "Josh has done an exceptional job of building a profitable, customer-focused hosted provider.  I'm thrilled to work closely with him and Geckotech's experienced team."

In other M5 Networks news, TMCnet reported earlier this year that the company has partnered with Firm Tech, Inc. to deliver voice service to corporations and legal firms in the Southeast U.S. Firm Tech, Inc. is an Information Technology consulting firm servicing the Southeastern United States of America.
