Globecomm Systems (News - Alert), a provider of satellite-based communications infrastructure solutions and services, has announced that the Company has been awarded various contracts from US Government Agencies valued at $4 illion.
The terms of the contract calls on Globecomm to supply its Network Management Software (NMS) product, AxxSys Orion, and associated engineering support services, according to company officials.
The AxxSys Orion NMS is expected to support the global operations of several large entry earth stations, and also numerous smaller fixed and portable satellite systems.
With AxxSys Orion distributed architecture, government personnel can manage each terminal asset from their desktop. Company officials said that this reduces ongoing maintenance and support costs. Plus, several features of the AxxSys Orion product are ideal for global network management.h
Company officials said that these features include the low bandwidth demands of the AxxSys Orion Multiprotocol Processors. Additional features are centralized configuration management, enhanced security, and a powerful aggregation data model.
Globecomm continues to invest R&D resources into the AxxSys Orion product in order to expand the boundaries of network management with regards to features and performance, said Scott Herschander, vice president of Information Technology at Globecomm.
Herschander said that these new orders demonstrate the company’s commitment to provide the core customer base with a true global enterprise solution that is easy to use, robust, highly scalable, and extremely reliable.
Earlier in August, Globecomm quadrupled its points-of-presence and teleport facilities, enabling telecommunications service providers to enhance and simplify connectivity requirements around the globe.
