Network Monitoring Provider Lancope Appoints Security Expert Amrit Williams as CTO
Today’s networks are extremely complex with routers, switches and hubs that link workstations to critical applications on numerous servers and to the Internet. There are also countless security and communications utilities and applications installed that span all verticals and companies of every size. Network management, therefore, is not confined to certain industries business sizes.
So, understanding the complexity of your network, and having the capacity to be informed of how the elements are performing at any time, is a key factor in maintaining network performance. There are thousands of data points to monitor on a network, so it is integral to be able to access accurate information. Network administrators must know what’s happening on their network from end-to-end at any given point in time.

His efforts contributed to a successful acquisition by IBM (News - Alert) in 2010 where he served as the director of emerging security technologies and CTO for endpoint security, helping to define the security strategy with emphasis on analytics, cloud computing, mobile and social media.
Williams commented, "Today's governments and enterprises are struggling to defend their networks from sophisticated malware, insider threats and targeted attacks. I look forward to working with Lancope's product and engineering teams to further establish the StealthWatch System as the solution that can fill in the gaps left by conventional security tools to more effectively combat evolving threats.”
