Generate Your Network Diagram at OPNETWORK's NetMapper Live Booth

September 18, 2012

For the past three OPNETWORK conferences, OPNET, a provider of application and network performance management solutions, has included a special addition to its annual conference - NetMapper Live. NetMapper Live is an opportunity for customers and prospects to have a live, one-on-one interaction with OPNET software and engineers as well as generate network diagrams.

Each year, OPNET invites customers and prospects who are attending the conference to send in their network device configuration data in advance or bring it to the conference. At OPNETWORK, there is a booth dedicated to NetMapper Live that is staffed by engineers from OPNET’s NetMapper engineering team.

“At the booth, we take the customer’s network configuration data and generate network diagrams pretty much right in front of them,” explained Ankit Agarwal, associate vice president of Engineering at OPNET, in an exclusive interview with TMCnet. “Then, we print out the diagram and give it to the customer at the conference.”

NetMapper Live is a unique offering that a lot of customers have really liked and have taken advantage of each year at the event. “Every year, the number of customers who take us up on this offer keeps increasing. NetMapper is still reaching its maturity and awareness is still building. Customers and prospects are showing a huge interest in it,” he said.

At the conference, OPNET engineers sit down with customers, walk them through the workflow, and generate network diagrams. This one-on-one interaction proves to customers the worth of the software and it demonstrates NetMapper’s ease of use.

“This is both a confidence-building tool for the customers as well as a way for us to get a lot of great suggestions while doing this with the customers,” added Agarwal. “We are able to incorporate the suggestions into the next version of our software.”

Taking customer suggestions into consideration, OPNET has recently introduced several features that automatically figure out the role of every device in the network. It then lays out the devices appropriately so that the most important devices are at the top and the least important are at the bottom.

Agarwal concluded, “We have really improved the software. When customers actually see this at the booth, they are frankly blown away that the software is able to intuitively know so much about their network.”

If you missed the conference, you can still request a free diagram of your network by contacting OPNET at NetMapper_demo@opnet.com.
