Infrastructure as a Service Provider Eucalyptus Intros Cloud Test Lab

February 13, 2012

In an effort to address the growing demand for cloud computing technologies, Infrastructure as a Service provider Eucalyptus Systems (News - Alert) has unveiled an enterprise-class cloud test lab offering at CoreSite (News - Alert) Realty’s Bay area data center campus. Thanks to the Eucalyptus Cloud Test Lab, before officially transitioning to the cloud, enterprises can have access to a secure, fully functional hosted Infrastructure as a Service cloud to make sure their cloud application migration strategies will be successful.

“CoreSite is pleased to provide the data center infrastructure to support Eucalyptus’ new Cloud Test Lab offering,” said Brian Warren, vice president of product management at CoreSite. “This offering provides our enterprise data center customers with a secure, risk-managed testing environment for their cloud migration strategies. The Eucalyptus Cloud Test Lab demonstrates CoreSite’s commitment to developing Cloud computing ecosystems for our customers.”

The test lab, which is slated to open March 1, is described as a complete cloud-ready data center solution that boasts fast and easy setup. The solution includes hosting, hardware and Eucalyptus open source cloud software. At the lab, enterprises can configure virtual cloud resources, experience full elastic-compute resource management, and demo their applications on private cloud software.

Moreover, in an effort to curtail the business and technical risks associated with cloud adoption, enterprises can purchase the exact cloud environment used during the testing phase. Eucalyptus’ Cloud Test Lab will operate on innovative Dell (News - Alert) infrastructure provided by Dasher Technologies.

“By validating the technical and business benefits of specific use cases prior to migration, enterprises can deploy hosted private and hybrid clouds with a new level of confidence,” said David Butler (News - Alert), senior vice president of marketing at Eucalyptus. “As part of Cloud Test Lab, customers can leverage the Eucalyptus partner ecosystem to evaluate a complete cloud solution, and benefit from a customer-focused, best-of-breed systems management approach.”
