Weak Economy Paves Opportunities for Hosted PBX Services

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor
As businesses today navigate through the rough economy and look to cost savings as a way to curb the strain, more and more businesses are installing hosted PBXs.

“Since hosted PBX (News - Alert) solutions require minimal up-front capital, with low monthly fees, they can often save a small company several hundred dollars a month on their phone bills, and much more for the larger enterprise,” an official with a N.J.-based telecommunications technology developer said during a recent TMCnet podcast.

According to Scott Seltzer, president of ConnectMeVoice, the company has seen companies who have switched to their hosted PBX services and have “immediately seen a savings of over 50 percent over their current phone providers, while having their call handling abilities improved significantly at the same time.”

“So, the weak economy has been a very good time for hosted PBX services,” Seltzer said.

Hosted solutions, Seltzer notes, are particularly well suited for the small business as well as the single work-at-home entrepreneur because it removes the need to hire dedicated IT staff or make any major up-front capital investments.

“Typically, a small business would have to settle for inferior functionality, and reliability, but with hosted services, we are really leveling the playing field so that even the smallest company, can have their calls handled the same way as a fortune 500 business. Since we have services starting at only $14.95 per month, it is something that any business can afford,” Seltzer said.

The company’s most recent product offering, “Connect Direct,” is a business grade IP-PBX product.

“Unlike our other offerings, which can only route calls to current landlines, mobile or IP Phones, this product also provides telephones that can connect directly to the broadband Internet,” Seltzer said.

Not only does this offering allow customers to connect an adapter or Internet telephony directly to a broadband connection and make unlimited inbound and outbound calls, the offering also includes a numbers of additional calling features for a single flat-rate fee.

“This can then result in a significant money savings for our customers, since they will be able to eliminate spending on their current land-line telecom provider,” Seltzer said.

Additional features packages with ConnectDirect include Internet faxing, call recording, extension-to-extension dialing, find-me-follow-me and crystal clear quality.
