Digital Signage: Black Box Acquires Quanta Systems

Following on a partnership announcement with CoreDial last week, Black Box (News - Alert) Corporation announced the acquisition of Quanta Systems, LLC, a privately-held security company based in Gaithersburg, Md.
According to company officials, Quanta has an “active” customer base, which includes various U.S. Department of Defense and government agency accounts. Annual historical revenues of Quanta are approximately $12 million, company officials said.
“Quanta’s security and command center solutions combined with Black Box’s world-class infrastructure solutions will provide our worldwide Federal customers distinct advantages and value,” said Jeff Murray, senior vice president and general manager for Black Box’s Federal Division. “We are very excited to have the added capabilities that Quanta offers, which will give us a distinct competitive advantage in the Federal market, as we continue to evolve and expand our federal programs.”
Black Box acquired Quanta from CompuDyne Corporation, a portfolio company of the Los Angeles-based private equity fund The Gores Group.
Last week, Black Box Network Services announced a new business relationship that allows the company to resell hosted voice over IP solutions to enterprises. The agreement with Plymouth Meeting, Penn.-based CoreDial lets Black Box Network Services to resell CoreDial’s hosted voice over IP solutions to enterprise customers, company officials said.
Black Box provides more than 118,000 networking and infrastructure products, such as fiber CAT5e, and CAT6 cable; KVM switches; digital signage; and cabinets and racks, plus network services.
Black Box Corporation plans to release its second quarter of fiscal 2010 financial results on Oct. 27.
