From the DCA Roadshow, to Interop New York City to the 2011 BICSI (News - Alert) Fall Conference, data center power distribution company Server Technology has certainly had a busy few months when it comes to trade shows. And this week, Server Technology (News - Alert) is gearing up to head to the unofficial “Capitol of New England,” for the Blade Systems Insight Summit.
The Blade Systems Insight Summit, taking place from Nov. 15-16, in Boston, Mass., is an event geared toward addressing critical issues facing CIOs and IT leaders with regards to IT infrastructure.
“This is our first year participating in the Blade Systems Insight Summit but we’re looking forward to it,” Julie Brown, marketing manager for Server Technology, told TMCnet. “Our power distribution units (PDUs) are ideally suited to power blade servers and high density environments, so this is a good summit for us to be involved in.”
The summit allows participants to take part in case studies, peer discussion panels and networking exercises, among other things. The program also includes peer-based insights and peer generated content. The event is only open to senior IT and data center executives from mid-sized and large corporations.
Highlights at the summit will include best practices in data center design and management, cases studies highlighting successful transitions and implementation, and demonstrations of the newest concepts in data center technology.
When asked what Server Technology – a company that produces some of the world’s leading data center power monitoring technologies – is most looking forward to at this year’s event, Brown said, “Server Technology is known for our power expertise and the quality and innovation of our power distribution units.”
“We’re looking forward to interacting with the attendees at this show, understanding the data center power challenges they’re having today and sharing our knowledge and solutions,” she added.
In addition to attending and networking at Blade Systems Insight Summit, Server Technology’s Vice President of Marketing Mark Harris will be speaking on two panels: the first is an Executive Panel on Data Center Issues and Ideas and the second panel is about Green Data Center Power Solutions.
“Mark is also presenting a case study on Syracuse University – one of our customers with a blade server high density environment that we provided solutions for,” Brown said.
Recently, Syracuse University was acknowledged for implementing a Green Data Center to drive an effective and efficient reduction in data center power. The institution’s data center has been referred to as one of the world’s greenest computer centers and is the result of collaboration between SU, IBM (News - Alert) and New York State. To focus on a reduction in data center power, the green data center as SU is designed to use roughly 50 percent less energy than the typical data center. Completed in early December of 2009, the green data center is a $12.4 million, 12,000-square-foot facility. In its design, this data center has 6,000 square feet of infrastructure space and 6,000 square feet of raised-floor data center space.
So what is Server Technology looking to take away from this event?
“It’s a great opportunity to connect with industry professionals on blade and infrastructure technologies,” Brown said.
