Viridity Software to Showcase Energy Resourceful Data Center Management Software

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Viridity Software, a provider of energy resource management (ERM) software, announced it will showcase EnergyCenter, its ERM software, at the Data Center World, Mirage Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, Oct. 3 – 6, 2010.

EnergyCenter enables data center, facilities and IT management to better manage power availability and reduce the risk of power outages, company officials said. It also helps customers discover additional hidden power, cooling and space capacity, as well as meet sustainability and “green” data center goals.

EnergyCenter’s patent pending energy measurement technology enables a quantum leap in the accuracy of energy measurement, especially over current methodologies such as faceplate or fixed de-rating technologies, according to company sources.

Power Utilization Modeling, an important feature of the ERM solution, first captures actual utilization and business criticality for each specific IT device. The corresponding energy consumption is then accurately profiled, at a granular level. Customers can tie together utilization and power consumption and easily identify opportunities for consolidation, as well as optimal placement of new equipment.

Using the Power Utilization Trending feature, EnergyCenter calculates utilization and power consumption dynamically, rather than a static point-in-time measurement. This trending information helps customers quickly identify under-utilized IT equipment (i.e., orphans), make advantageous technology refresh decisions, and clearly map consumption to business needs and priorities, the company said.

EnergyCenter, according to company officials, delivers actionable reports to the customer within just a few hours of deployment providing insight across a wide range of capabilities, enabling fast time-to-results and return-on-investment (ROI).

Recently Viridity Software has been added to the Data Center Alliance (DCA) member roster, TMCnet reported.

By becoming a member in DCA, Viridity will further ensure that its data center and facilities management customers are being provided with the most robust and fully interoperable data center energy monitoring, measurement and management solutions, company officials said.
