Asigra Integrates NetApp Features in New Version of Cloud Backup Solution

By Laura Stotler, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Cloud backup, recovery and restore (BURR) application provider Asigra Inc. has enhanced its service provider solution with expanded integration for NetApp storage solutions. The enhanced offering, Asigra Cloud Backup version 11.2, is designed to enable end-to-end data protection services and accelerate time-to-market and revenues for service providers entering or expanding their positions in the cloud market.

The new version of Asigra Cloud Backup offers a single solution that supports all IT environments, from consumers to global enterprises. It combines operations, technology and go-to-market direction in a single package to help service providers become more agile and profitable.

“For enterprises looking for lower cost alternatives to on-site tape-based backup infrastructures, Asigra Cloud Backup built on NetApp enables service providers to offer a scalable and resilient cloud-based service to end users with a cost effective alternative to on-site tape backup infrastructures,” Chris Cummings, vice president of products and solutions marketing, at NetApp, Inc., said in a release. “Combined with NetApp‘s industry leading efficiencies and automation, the solution enables service providers to truly differentiate their service offering in the market and build a compelling business model.”

Service provider ROI may be accelerated using the new offering by reduced time-to-market for new services and automation of a number of manual and error-prone management processes typically found in piecemeal solutions. Overall, the risk and cost of service development, deployment, operations and maintenance is lowered.

“As service providers assist organizations in transitioning to virtualized operating environments and cloud-based infrastructure, they are also recognizing the importance of re-architecting their approaches to data protection whether supporting a small enterprise or a multi-national corporation,” said Douglas Ko, director, strategic alliances and product marketing at Asigra, said in a release. “Asigra delivers a multiple of benefits that help service providers differentiate their offerings, accelerate time to market, and reduce operational costs to provide real value.”

The integration with NetApp, leverages features at the core and edge of the cloud to speed and simplify data backup and capture at the customer site as well as speed and simplify restoration at the end-customer site. Scalability and performance of core backup and restore processing are also improved, and the integration also speeds replication to backup archives, cloud storage and remote disaster recovery sites.
