FileTrek Making Big Splash in Cloud Market
Cupid might have run out of arrows and chocolate stores of delicacies, but FileTrek still has a rosy glow to it the day after Valentine’s Day, as the provider of mobile content management and tracking solutions has unveiled the only combined cloud-based file sharing and tracking solution on the market.
FileTrek, a company that provides secure file sharing, project collaboration, and the ability for managers to track content and data, touted its new solution for its ease of use and its ability to scale across thousands of desktops and mobile devices to maximize individual and workgroup productivity.
“The major issue facing companies today is keeping track of all the information that is being spread around by the mobile work force,” FileTrek CEO and President Dale Quayle told TMCnet about the significance of its latest solution. “Documents move from place to place virtually instantaneously with no record or accounting of who shared what with whom. FileTrek addresses this problem and puts control back in the hands of the business. FileTrek meets the demands of the mobile workforce with dynamic sharing and synchronization solutions, but also provides an easy to use and understand file tracking mechanism that shows where all your stuff is, and who has seen and used it.”
According to officials, one of the chief capabilities of the solution is that it boasts a data tracking feature that immediately relays to you the location of a file, who worked on it and various changes that have been made to it. Users can then share files directly from their desktops and access data anywhere from any device, whether they are online or offline.
Moreover, IT management is given visibility of all sharing, syncing and versioning activities of a file or its contents thanks to the solution’s ability to provide audit trail reporting. These audit trails, which illustrate file genealogy, can be generated to obtain a comprehensive view of actions related to critical data.
Another benefit of the solution is that an internal FileTrek storage option permits enterprises to utilize their own internal servers as the host rather than utilize the public cloud. This option allows organizations to share files, collaborate on projects, prevent data loss, and increase profitability all within a unified and private system, according to company officials.
“Our solution is unique in that it provides an answer to the problems of both the mobile worker, and the business owner who is concerned about the unauthorized sharing of critical business information,” Quayle said. “FileTrek is offered as a cloud based SaaS (News
- Alert), for individuals (free), Teams (as a monthly subscription for smaller business) and Enterprises. Our Enterprise solution can be deployed on the public cloud, but unlike our competitors, we offer a version that can be deployed in a companies’ private cloud. It is up to the customer to decide which option is best for him.”
Not only is FileTrek exuding a warm glow because of its latest solution, but the company also closed $10 million in funding from a consortium of investors in the U.S. and Canada led by Anthem Venture Partners and Telesystem. The funding is being used to supplant its most recent cloud-based file sharing solution.
When asked what it means for FileTrek to close $10 million in funding, Quayle told TMCnet, “Quite simply it means that a lot of investors see how important what we are doing is and want to participate in our journey. This is an explosive market, with huge problems to address. The issue of ‘Unsecured Data Sprawl’ is real, it is big, and it is growing at an exponential rate. FileTrek is the only company that provides a solution.”
So what’s next for FileTrek?
“We are in the process of expanding our sales force and our outbound marketing efforts,” Quayle said. “In addition we are aggressively expanding our engineering team to keep up with the pace of requests from our customers. Next on tap from a product perspective be our new iPad application. This is really cool, and we think it will blow people away. After that we will be announcing a number of vertical solutions and application integrations that we feel will be very important in the market.”
