Nirvanix Highlights Importance of Cloud Storage for the Media and Entertainment Industry

This presentation will highlight the fact that in the present scenario of digitization of content and the resulting immense hypergrowth in unstructured files, conventional onsite storage systems are no longer financially viable or agile for maintaining a competitive edge.

Conventional onsite storage systems are characterized by long cycles of maintenance, data migrations and technology refreshes which is cost prohibitive. Bailey threw light on how enterprise-grade cloud storage services with a consumption-based pricing model can be a better alternative to the conventional storage system buying cycle.

The facts that have to be borne in mind while choosing a cloud storage service was discussed including data consistency, self-healing capabilities, a global name space, military-grade security and guaranteed enterprise-level SLAs, said officials.

The differences among public, hybrid, and private cloud storage deployment options were shown. He also provided examples of how cloud storage is being leveraged at major media and entertainment companies.
