At the Cloud Expo in New York earlier this month, TMC’s CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) conducted interviews with some of the top-level executives from cloud computing companies and service providers to find out the latest from developers and software suppliers in the industry.

In one particular interview, Tehrani met with Jeff Bell, director of marketing for Zetta (News - Alert), a company offering enterprise cloud data protection, backup, and storage solutions.

Bell and Tehrani discussed the latest developments from Zetta, and reflected on the challenges posed to those cloud storage providers as a whole recently. “We’re a cloud storage service provider… Over the last year or so we’ve really focused the presentation of our storage service around the data protection marketplace,” stated Bell.

Tehrani probed Bell with questions about how Zetta is able to differentiate from other competing cloud storage providers, and Bell noted that, “When we started off being just a cloud service storage provider, it was a little tougher to differentiate. When we wrapped the solution around data protection, it became clearer. There are other providers who provide data protection capability, but it’s more wrapped around a back-up application.” Zetta focuses more on disaster recovery back-up capabilities.

With the recent announcement concerning the iCloud, the two discussed the growing legitimacy of the cloud, and how players in the market view the move from Apple (News - Alert). Bell said that potential customers are looking at Zetta’s services with different eyes recently. Check out more from Zetta at the Cloud Expo here.
