NTT America Demos Utility-based Computing Solution

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

NTT America, an infrastructure services provider and subsidiary of NTT Communications, has demonstrated the NTT America Enterprise Cloud at the Gartner (News - Alert) IT Infrastructure, Operations & Management Summit.

The company said that it’s one of the first companies to introduce a global private cloud hosting solution based on VMware vCloud Director, which provides customers with additional levels of flexibility to meet computing capacity needs on demand.

NTT America (News - Alert) Enterprise Cloud is designed for large enterprises that need to seamlessly integrate the flexibility and cost savings of the cloud and also maintain high levels of security for their enterprise applications, according to company officials.

With this utility-based computing solution, companies can now fully control their own infrastructure resources since they are able to create customized computing resources or virtual data centers for each customer.

Also, NTT America Enterprise Cloud allows companies to leverage global infrastructure and data centers in the United States, Europe and Asia, providing a solution to meet demand for “unprecedented” bandwidth speed and capacity, said company officials.

Additionally, the company’s Customer Portal provides end-users the ability to create, use and manage virtual machines and virtual applications to optimize computing resources.

“As large enterprises, our customers want access to the cost efficiencies and flexibility that cloud computing offers, but are unwilling to sacrifice their security and ability to customize their computing environments,” said Doug McMaster, vice president of data center services at NTT America.

“Our virtual private cloud model allows them to leverage NTT America’s years of expertise in securely managing global networks while simultaneously integrating the advantages of cloud-based infrastructure.”

In April, NTT America announced the commercial availability of its enterprise private cloud hosting environment.
