Google I/O 2011 - Cloud9, Inc. announced the private beta preview of its support for the proposed W3C (News - Alert) client-side file system standard that is being used in the recent versions of Google Chrome and the full integration with the Google App Engine.
Also, the new Cloud9 IDE facility will provide Chrome OS support, making Cloud9 (News - Alert) IDE the only way to create applications on Google’s CR-48, both on and off the cloud.
In a release, Google (News
- Alert) App Engine evangelist, Fred Sauer said, “Cloud9 IDE for Google App Engine lets developers build and run web applications directly on Google's infrastructure, providing an economical one-stop cloud development and deployment platform. Instead of uploading an application, developers can now build, scale and maintain their applications right on Cloud9 IDE.”
Company sources explained that the new integrated solution lets users create development projects in Cloud9, and then test and run the code on the Google architecture. The full support for the new file system (FS) allows Chrome app developers to cache their files in the local FS API and also work when they go offline. They can automatically re-sync when they go back onto the Cloud9 IDE in order to continue editing in the cloud.
Cloud9 IDE Inc, CEO Ruben Daniels added, “Google Chrome is all about extending the cloud, so we are excited to announce the first cloud-based development environment for the Google Chrome OS and apps. Up to now, developers had no way to create apps when using a Google CR48 machine.”
Google I/O, which took place on 10th and 11th of May, 2011 in San Francisco, serves thousands of developers by offering deep technical content for two days. This event aims to build the next generation of Web, mobile, and enterprise applications with Google and open Web technologies.
Cloud9 IDE launched the first commercial development as a service (DaaS) for JavaScript, supporting HTML5, Python, Ruby, and PHP. Cloud9 IDE enables Web and mobile developers to edit, share, and deploy several applications anywhere and at anytime as a large proportion of Web sites use JavaScript and mobile apps.
Recently, TMCnet reported that Cloud9 has been included in the list of “Cool Vendors” in the ‘Cool Vendors in Open Source (News - Alert) Software’, report by Brian Prentice and Thomas Murphy of Gartner.
