By Mandira Srivastava, TMCnet Contributor
UC6 Version 3.1, a next generation cloud computing platform has been introduced by 6fusion, a provider of utility billed Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for the channel.
According to a press release, it offers expanded hybrid cloud enablement capabilities, an integrated application library, a robust set of APIs and expanded user self-service capabilities.
UC6 Version 3.1 runs on 6fusion's innovative Workload Allocation Cube (WAC (News - Alert)) technology. It extends utility metered, self-service, IaaS capabilities into private and community-based infrastructure clouds. UC6 Version 3.1 offers a vendor agnostic "single pane of glass" management experience that allows organizations to dynamically take advantage of internal and external infrastructure - all metered using the WAC. It includes a new web-based console, powerful user self-service capabilities and an improved user experience.
John Cowan, CEO and co-founder of 6fusion said that the company has introduced the first truly utility metered cloud platform, and with Version 3.1, we are expanding that platform out to hybrid and community cloud environments.
In addition, Version 3.1 debuts a new set of robust public web service APIs. The new REST-based API set allows third-party software developers, enterprises, and resellers to integrate their product and solution offerings with UC6. These integrated solution offerings optimize workflows, simplify back office operations and streamline billing and chargebacks.
Rob Bissett, VP of Product Management for 6fusion commented that 3.1 reflects the company’s customers' needs, feedback and experiences and is excited to help propel them forward to even greater success with this new release.
Version 3.1 also introduces the 6fusion Application Library - a centralized repository of application and workload templates that allow users to select and deploy systems in minutes, greatly simplifying the process of deploying new cloud-based machines. The Application Library consists of standardized Windows Server Systems offered under 6fusion's Microsoft (News
- Alert) SPLA Program, as well as applications certified under 6fusion's ECO6 Alliance Partner Program, including products and managed services from Asigra, Fortinet (News - Alert), Network Box, RASSonline, and e-ternity.
In other company news, TMCnet reported that 6fusion announced a partnership deal with IT solutions company, ConnectWise (News - Alert) to participate in the ConnectWise Developer Network program.
