Joyent and MiTAC Information Technology Sign Strategic Alliance Agreement

Taipei-based MiTAC Information Technology and Joyent, have entered into a strategic alliance agreement to develop and deliver cloud computing services for the Asian market.

As part of the pact, both companies will cooperate to provide comprehensive, competitive public cloud products to governmental organizations and private and hybrid cloud capabilities to large enterprises, by making use of MiTAC’s powerful systems integration and consulting expertise, and Joyent’s robust cloud computing software.

Joyent’s cloud computing software will also be introduced to MiTAC’s prospects and customers, in both the public and private sectors.

“The combination of MiTAC’s systems integration expertise and Joyent’s advanced cloud computing infrastructure will enable our customers to create, scale and operate applications in the cloud in the most efficient way possible,” said Simon Chiang, president of MiTAC, in a statement.

“Together, MiTAC and Joyent will provide the most powerful, flexible, and reliable cloud software and services to enterprise customers and service providers throughout Asia,” stated David Young (News - Alert), CEO of Joyent.

Joyent is a global cloud computing software and service provider that offers an integrated suite of software and services designed specifically for the needs of service providers and enterprises; in order to deliver cloud services to clients or within enterprises.

Joyent licenses its cloud software to service providers worldwide, and works with leading system integrators who provide cloud services and products to their own customers.

Earlier in January, Joyent had announced the introduction of SmartDataCenter 6, the newest version of its cloud operating system, an integrated suite of software and services designed for service providers and enterprises to launch and operate public, private and hybrid clouds.

Joyent was recently positioned by Gartner (News - Alert) in the Visionaries Quadrant of the 2010 Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IAAS) and Web Hosting Magic Quadrant.
