Getronics and Cordys Enter Into Strategic Cloud-Service Partnership

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

ICT service provider Getronics and business process innovation solution provider Cordys have announced a strategic partnership to provide cloud services to the European market. Getronics is to be reseller for a cloud solution that is based on the Cordys Process Factory.

This new solution is to consist of a cloud service platform through which any organization, regardless of industry or size, can mix and match local enterprise systems with Web-based applications and processes. This platform is to be made available as both a private cloud and a public cloud solution.

The Cordys Process Factory is a Web-based platform that allows users to construct business applications easily and quickly. This cloud platform gives users, independent software providers, developers, and other Getronics partners the capacity to develop process-centric applications capable of being provisioned and marketed in this new cloud solution. Known as MashApps or Mashup Applications, these apps allow Getronics and various partners to provide clients with ad hoc applications that are ready for use in an entirely web-based environment. This eliminates the need for significant capital expenditures or lengthy project development times.

Per Jonsson, Cordys chief executive officer, said that despite the fact that cloud computing is changing the IT landscape significantly, most organizations will maintain their enterprise software systems on the premises. Companies will thus have quite a challenge integrating these on-premise systems with the new crop of Web-based business services and applications, which are both agile and far more collaborative.

Jonsson added that the Cordys platform allows users to establish “on-the-fly” connections between multiple apps and services in the cloud without requiring costly integration projects or programming. Getronics can therefore offer a comprehensive Platform-as-a-Service business model to its customers, and other features such as pay-as-you-go can help boost IT effectiveness.

Erik van der Meijden, chief executive officer of Getronics, said that it is key for organizations today to react rapidly to market changes and adopt business models featuring continuous process improvement, which cannot always be done with the more traditional implementation and software development solutions. Cordys and Getronics, van der Meijden said, can add significant value to its offerings and offer a new proposition to clients.
