By Madhubanti Rudra, TMCnet Contributor

Red Bend Software (News - Alert) is an industry-leading provider of mobile software management solutions, which are used by world’s major handset manufacturers and mobile operators for managing firmware, applications and devices over the air.

With an eye on the mobile virtualization market, Red Bend sought to enhance its product line with the integration of virtualization technology for mobile handsets. In connection to this strategy, Red Bend Software has recently acquired VirtualLogix (News - Alert), a key player in real-time virtualization software technology for mobile products including wireless handsets.

According to the industry watchers, the addition of VirtualLogix’s successful products and highly skilled team will enable Red Bend to enter the high-growth mobile virtualization market and broaden its management solutions. This will help Red Bend to further expand its clientele among device manufacturers, semiconductor vendors, software developers and service providers by offering feature-rich, highly customizable, affordable and secure mobile phones and connected devices.

The mobile industry has come at a juncture, where customers are demanding smarter devices, richer applications, personalized services and faster connections. But a number of technical and commercial constraints slowing innovations and driving up costs. At this point of time, what the industry needs is the smooth exchange of innovations across the industries to bring affordable, exciting mobile services to consumers and enterprises. The Internet and computer industry players can’t offer a holistic solution to this shortcoming.

Red Bend tries to address this challenge by combining its widely deployed mobile software management products with the leading VLX mobile virtualization software from VirtualLogix. The combined solution is expected to enable mobile industry players to securely and independently manage different software assets on mobile devices and bring advanced, cloud-based mobile services to market faster and more profitably.

“Today marks the beginning of a new era for Red Bend Software and a preview of what's to come in the mobile industry. Mobile software management and mobile virtualization are converging, creating a strategic enabler for our customers to deliver the next generation of devices and services,” CEO of Red Bend Software, Yoram Salinger explained.

“Mobile virtualization is a technology with high growth potential. Red Bend has the trusted customer relationships, technical expertise, operational infrastructure and proven execution abilities to take mobile virtualization to the next level. We intend to do for mobile virtualization what we've done to make mobile software management a mass-market success,” he concluded.
