Cordys, a global provider of software for business process improvement, announced the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands has chosen Cordys' Business Operations BPM Platform to design, automate and continually improve complex processes.
The implementation will offer optimal process management capabilities to the government body and will help it offer the service to citizens, businesses and other organizations at the highest possible level.
The process management at the province of Gelderland should not only ensure the quality of the service but also be compliant with local, national and European legislation, management, so the improvement of processes is often complicated and time-consuming, according to officials at Cordys.
The province of Gelderland will use the Cordys Business Operations platform for a number of processes including acting upon reports of poor quality water in swimming pools; public, private and European tendering; and improvement of internal operations
Theo van Diek, ICT advisor to the province of Gelderland, said “Within the province, we are increasingly encountering complex processes, in which flexibility and the ability to make adjustments whenever necessary are essential factors.”
According to Theo van Diek, the Cordys platform meets their demands because it offers “not just an extensive range of possibilities to monitor processes, but also a Case Management solution.”
While the standard BPM solutions automate the interaction between people and systems according to a predefined, structured and fixed process, Case Management offers the possibility to apply BPM flexibly, allowing employees who are integral to the process to intervene and make changes wherever necessary.
Both of these are integral to ensure quality of the process and compliance with legislation, according to Cordys officials.
“Managing and optimizing processes within government organizations is a very complex activity in which both people and systems play an important role,” Per Jonsson, CEO of Cordys, stated. “Outsiders often greatly underestimate the degree of complexity involved.”
Jonsson commented that the province of Gelderland has shown that it is possible to quickly and effectively carry out political decisions, to conform with legislation on all levels, whilst simultaneously maintaining a high quality of service.
Earlier in June Cordys announced the Fraunhofer (News - Alert) Institute for Industrial Engineering has selected the company to study service oriented architecture-based business process management in its business modeling company.
